“The days of our years are threescore years and ten; if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labor and sorrow, for it is soon cut off and we fly away.”

Psalm 90:10 KJV

On August 2nd I celebrated 80 years of age, it is truly a blessing to have reached this milestone in my life. It is actually what I would call a miracle that has happened only because of the Grace and Mercy of Almighty God.   My life has been turned around from the way that I was headed 28 years ago. Because of alcohol and drugs I had become physically ill, morally wrong and spiritually bankrupt. September 12, 1998 I gave up and surrendered to alcohol and most of all I surrendered to God. I had nowhere to turn.

I found myself single with family moved away, and very few friends. I had accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior in 1984 while I was in jail for one of my many DWI’s and here it was 14 years later and the one true friend I had was my Savior and I turned unto Him. He loved me back like I had never left Him. I started going to church and attending AA meetings. The last DWI that I received in 1996 cost me my drivers license for ten years and I found myself at 52 years old having to ride a bicycle to get around and take care of my needs. I thought it was a curse to have to ride a bike at my age, but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. It required exercise to get around and because of the exercise I became healthier and my depression was lifted. I had to quit smoking which was an added benefit to not have a drivers license.

As part of my daily routine I started writing a small daily page that I shared with others through email, it dealt mainly with Scripture and my daily recovery from drugs and alcohol. I wrote most mornings for six years of so and then my life changed when I got my drivers license back. My whole routine changed. Today I hope to start writing again, it has been a twenty year void in my Life. God has done for me what I could not do for myself.
